What it is
We know that early intervention is important for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
This assessment offers parents a condensed, but still thorough, lower-cost option for looking into whether their child meets criteria for ASD.
It is for children with severe ASD symptoms who are not yet diagnosed.
It may be suitable for parents who are wanting their child to be assessed earlier than current waitlist times.
What it includes
An Intake Interview with parents.
Questionnaires completed by parents.
An assessment and clinical observations of your child in clinic.
Diagnostic conclusions and recommendations.
A diagnostic letter, if applicable.
A printed copy of a report and recommendations.
The option to attend one parent group to have further questions answered about your child or funding applications.
who may be eligible
Children who:
are age 2-6
Considered “non-verbal” or have a moderate to severe delay in language.
Engage in repetitive language.
Display limited eye-contact.
Display rigid behaviour (e.g., inflexible play skills, strong adherence to routines, etc.).
Do not respond to their name or have seemingly decreased awareness of others.
Have sensory sensitivities (e.g., to noise, touch, food, clothing).
Other professionals have voiced concerns.
